Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
