Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
