Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
