Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
