Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
