Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
