Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
