The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
