Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
