Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
