Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
