Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel - how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
