Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
