The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 Of a related orphan, 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
