Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
