Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
