The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
