The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
