The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and rejects what is right, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
