The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
