The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
