In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
