The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
