Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 Who committed inordinacy in the cities, 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 Most certainly – when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life [to come]!" 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
