The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
