The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
تشير بداية ونهاية كل سورة الى السور المنزلة قبلها و بعدها. يمكنك الضغط على أي منها للذهاب إليها.
The beginning and end of every Surah mention the Surahs sent down before and after. You can click or tap on either one to go there.
