Children of Israel, remember My blessing which I have bestowed on you, and how I favoured you above all other people. 47 and remain conscious of [the coming of] a Day when no human being shall in the least avail another, nor shall intercession be accepted from any of them, nor ransom taken from them, and none shall be succoured. 48 And (remember) when We delivered you from Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, who were afflicting you with a horrible torment, killing your sons and sparing your women, and therein was a mighty trial from your Lord. 49 Remember the time when We parted the sea to make way for you and let you pass safely through it and then drowned Pharaoh's people before your very eyes. 50 And when We appointed with Moses forty nights then you took to yourselves the Calf after him and you were evildoers; 51 Then after that We pardoned you so that you may be grateful. 52 And when We gave unto Moses the Scripture and the criterion (of right and wrong), that ye might be led aright. 53 Moses said to his people, "My people, you have done wrong to yourselves by worshipping the calf. Seek pardon from your Lord and slay yourselves." He told them that it would be best for them in the sight of their Lord, Who would forgive them, for He is All-forgiving and All-merciful. 54 And when you said to Moses: 'We will not believe in you until we see Allah openly' a thunderbolt struck you whilst you were looking. 55 Then We brought you back to life after your death, so that you might be grateful. 56 And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not - but they were [only] wronging themselves. 57 (Children of Israel, recall My favors) when We told you, "Enter this city, enjoy eating whatever you want therein, prostrate yourselves and ask forgiveness when passing through the gate, and We shall forgive your sins, and add to the rewards of the righteous ones". 58 But those who were bent on evildoing substituted another saying for that which had been given them: and so We sent down upon those evildoers a plague from heaven in requital for all their iniquity. 59
