A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many a city We have destroyed! Our might came upon it at night, or while they took their ease in the noontide, 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then verily We shall narrate unto them (the event) with knowledge, for We were not absent (when it came to pass). 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
