Is it not clear to those who inherit the earth in succession from its (previous) possessors, that had We willed, We would have punished them for their sins. And We seal up their hearts so that they hear not? 100 Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith. 101 We did not find many among them keeping their promises. However, We did find many evil-doers among them. 102 After those We sent forth Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his nobles, but they dealt with Our signs unjustly. Observe, then, what happened to the mischief-makers. 103 And Moses said: 'O Pharaoh! I am a Messenger from the Lord of the universe. 104 “It is obligatory for me not to speak concerning Allah except the truth; I have come to you all with a clear sign from your Lord, therefore let the Descendants of Israel go with me.” 105 He said: if thou hast brought a sign, forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 106 Then (Moses) threw his rod, and behold! it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 107 And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white to all beholders! 108
