The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 We never destroyed any town without pre-ordaining the fate of its people. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 they believe not in it, though the wont of the ancients is already gone. 13 And if We open for them a gate in the heavens, to ascend it through the day – 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
