Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
