And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
