And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
