AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
