When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
