And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
