When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
