At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
