And now that We replace one message by another - since God is fully aware of what He bestows from on high, step by step - they [who deny the truth] are wont to say: "Thou but inventest it!" Nay, but most of them do not understand it! 101 Proclaim, “The Holy Spirit* has rightly brought it down from your Lord, to make the believers steadfast, and a guidance and glad tidings for the Muslims.” (* Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 102 Yet We know what they say: "It is only a man who instructs him." The speech of the man they imply is obscure while this is clear Arabic. 103 Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, Allah guideth them not and theirs will be a painful doom. 104 They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allah, and it is those who are the liars. 105 As for one who denies God after he has believed, with the exception of one who is forced to do it, while his heart rests securely in faith, but one who opens his heart to a denial of truth shall incur the wrath of God; such as these will have a terrible punishment. 106 This is because the worldly life was dearer to them than the Hereafter; and because Allah does not guide such disbelieving people. 107 Those are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allah has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless. 108 Assuredly in the Hereafter they are the losers. 109 ۞ Then lo! thy Lord - for those who became fugitives after they had been persecuted, and then fought and were steadfast - lo! thy Lord afterward is (for them) indeed Forgiving, Merciful. 110
