They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain. Say, "I will rehearse to you something of his story." 83 Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way. 84 He therefore pursued a purpose. 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." 86 He said: "We will chastise him who does wrong, whereafter he will be returned to his Lord and He will chastise him grievously. 87 And as for him who believes and does good, he shall have goodly reward, and We will speak to him an easy word of Our command. 88 He again pursued a purpose. 89 to the East where he found the sun rising upon a people whom We had exposed to its rays. 90 This indeed was true. We knew all that he did there. 91 Then he followed a road 92 Till he reached a place between two mountains, and found this side of it a people who understood but little of what was spoken. 93 They said: O Zul-Qarnain verily Yajuj and Majuj are working corruption in the land; shall we then pay thee tribute on condition that thou place between us and them a barrier! 94 He said, 'That wherein my Lord has established me is better; so aid me forcefully, and I will set up a rampart between you and between them. 95 Bring me blocks of iron; until when he had filled up the space between the two mountain sides, he said: Blow, until when he had made it (as) fire, he said: Bring me molten brass which I may pour over it. 96 So they [Gog and Magog] were not able to scale it, nor were they able to bore through it, 97 He said, “This is the mercy of my Lord; then when the promise of my Lord arrives, He will blow it to bits; and my Lord’s promise is true.” 98 ۞ On that day We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another: the trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them all together. 99 Then We shall bring Hell right before the infidels 100 Unto those whose eyes had been under a covering from My remembrance, nor had they been able to hear. 101
