WITH ALL THIS, man [often] says, "What! Once I am dead, shall I again be brought forth alive?" 66 Will not man remember that We created him aforetime, when he was nothing? 67 So by your Lord, We shall assemble them and the devils – all of them – and bring them around hell, fallen on their knees. 68 We shall then pick out from every group the one who was most arrogant towards the Most Gracious. 69 then We shall know very well those most deserving to burn there. 70 and there is not one of you but shall pass through it: a decree from your Lord which must be fulfilled. 71 Then We shall rescue those who kept from evil, and leave the evil-doers crouching there. 72 When Our lucid revelations are read out to them, the infidels say to those who believe: "Which of the two groups is better in standing, and whose company is more excellent?" 73 How many generations that had far more wealth and ostentation have We laid low before them! 74 Say: As for him who is in error, the Beneficent will verily prolong his span of life until, when they behold that which they were promised, whether it be punishment (in the world), or the Hour (of doom), they will know who is worse in position and who is weaker as an army. 75 God further enlightens those who seek guidance. To those who do charitable deeds which produce continuing benefits, your Lord will give a better reward and a better place in Paradise. 76 So have you seen him who denied Our signs and says, “I shall certainly be given wealth and children?” 77 Hath he looked unto the Unseen, or hath he taken of the Compassionate a covenant? 78 Never; We shall now record what he says and give him a prolonged punishment. 79 And We shall inherit from him that whereof he spake, and he will come unto Us, alone (without his wealth and children). 80 They have sought honor from other gods instead of God. 81 Never; soon they will deny ever worshipping them, and will turn into their opponents. 82
