Recall when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam"; all prostrated themselves save Iblis. He refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you be distressed in misery. 117 Verily, you have (a promise from Us) that you will never be hungry therein nor naked. 118 nor face thirst or scorching heat." 119 But satan whispered to him saying: 'Adam, shall I direct you the Tree of Eternity and a kingdom which never decays' 120 Then they both ate of it, so their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with leaves of the garden, and Adam disobeyed his Lord, so his life became evil (to him). 121 His Lord forgave him, accepted his repentance, and gave him guidance. 122 God then told them, "Get out of here all of you; you are each other's enemies. When My guidance comes to you, those who follow it will not go astray nor will they endure any misery. 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his life shall be narrow and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind' 124 'My Lord' he will say: 'why have You raised me blind when I was able to see' 125 He will say, “Similarly did Our signs come to you but you forgot them; and in the same way, nobody will heed you today.” 126 So We recompense him who is prodigal and believes not in the signs of his Lord; and the chastisement of the world to come is more terrible and more enduring. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many generations We have destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they walk? Verily, in this are signs indeed for men of understanding. 128
