۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
