۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
