۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 When he asked his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so devoted?" 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 We made them leaders who guided people by Our command. We revealed to them the doing of good, observance of prayer and the giving of alms and Us alone did they worship. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
