The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
