And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
