Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
