By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the sinners. 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
