And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
